Since the doors opened in 1995, The Wilds has been the benchmark of a quality golf experience in the Twin Cities. Located about 30-minutes southwest of Minneapolis and less than 30-minutes from the MSP International Airport, it’s simple to get to The Wilds. Hole after hole, your game will be challenged all the while soaking up a natural Minnesota setting. We recently caught up with The Wilds General Manager, Shad Gordon, and asked him to share his thoughts on one of the top golf courses in Minnesota.
Tell me about your course and what makes it so unique:
We opened in 1995 and were one of the first upscale public courses. We are the only Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish designed course in Minnesota.
What is the best compliment you can receive from a golfer:
They can’t wait to return again!
What is your favorite hole on the course:
I love every hole but my best/favorite memory is “Hole #12 (528 par 5)”. While playing with Dad, I had my first and only double eagle (Driver, 5 Wood)!
Of what are you most proud at The Wilds:
The entire staff! They will go up and beyond the call of duty for our customers and each other. It’s very motivating and contagious!
What do people outside Minnesota need to know about Minnesota golf:
No matter where your final destination is, there is a great golf course close by!
