We love the Wilderness at Fortune Bay – and so does America! The course just received an incredible recognition from Golf Digest – being ranked 40th on the magazine’s America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses list. This is the first time The Wilderness has made the list.
Courses were ranked by more than 1,000 volunteers across the country. They scored courses on things like shot values, design variety, memorability, ambience, conditioning and resistance to scoring. The Wilderness received a score of nearly 59.
Tom Beaudry, General Manager of The Wilderness says “it is truly an honor to be associated with a property that continues to receive accolades even after having been open for 7 years. It speaks highly to the foresight the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa had when they developed this course and compliments the entire resort.”
The Top 100 list is golf’s oldest ranking – it’s been around since 1966. The Wilderness has also been rated the Best Course You Can Play in Minnesota by GolfWeek in 2009 and 2010, the #2 Best Casino Resort Course by Golf Digest 2008 and among the Top 50 Best Resort Courses in the Nation by GolfWorld in 2010.
