Record golf show attendance is good sign
If the performance of the 2013 Minnesota and Chicago Golf Shows is an indicator of the recovery of golf, then clearly the light at the end of the tunnel is far brighter than in past years.
The Chicago Show a week ago, shattered the show’s 30-year attendance record, according to show officials. Attendance at the 30th annual Chicago Golf Show was 19,200 in 2013 an increase of 15 percent, breaking the show’s overall attendance record set just last year, according to the show organizer. In 2012, attendance was 16,700, an increase of 12 percent over 2011. We had excellent traffic at the EMGA booth all weekend.
Here are the Minnesota Golf Show stats: 11,234 attendees, which was a 34% increase over 2012, and a new Minnesota Golf Show record since Kevin Kulas acquired the show back in 2003.
This weekend we are in Milwaukee once again for a show that always draws a lot of interest from area golfers and a crowd that typically has a high percentage of visitors with plans to visit Minnesota. The show returns to Fairgrounds Park, where it was held for years before relocating last year. If you’re in the area, come by and say hello. The Fairgrounds Park is just off I-94 and west of Milwaukee. Here’s the address: 640 S. 84th Street West Allis, WI.
Ahh yes, spring is in the air and even though we’re still in the 30’s here in Minnesota, the golf balls will be in the air soon!
