Braemar Golf Course

Braemar-Golf-Course

Braemar Golf Course, one of the premiere courses in Minnesota, has recently completed a major renovation of the championship golf course. The new design is by famed course designer Richard Mandell Golf Architects. Braemar Golf Course is conveniently located in Edina in Braemar Park and is the closest championship course to MSP International Airport and Mall of America including the Bloomington complexes of 45 hotels – just 10 minutes. The park is 500 acres of rolling hills and scenic lakes surrounded by beautiful, untouched oak ridges. There’s a feeling of seclusion amidst its urban setting, only 15 minutes from either Minneapolis or St Paul.

The construction of the original 18-hole golf course, driving range and par-three course was completed with opening in 1964. Since then, Braemar has been constantly expanding and changing.

Over the years Braemar has been rated among the top 75 public golf courses in the nation, including #1 Public Course by Golf Digest (1984). Braemar hosted a PGA’s 1969 Minnesota Classic – one of only four PGA events hosted on a public golf course that year. Braemar has received national attention with the 1979 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship. State tournaments held at Braemar include the Minnesota Senior Open, Minnesota Public Links Championship and the Minnesota Women’s Amateur Public Links and others.

The redo of Braemar GC is the first new regulation 18-Hole golf course in Minnesota in more than a decade on the site of the existing 27-Hole Golf Course.  The new Championship 18-Hole Course opened May 15, 2019. The old layout was completely stripped down and transformed into a magnificent 18-hole 6,884-yard track.

The new design has wider fairways with minimal number of hazards to create strategic options for all talent levels. Mr. Mandell also made an environmental statement by restoring 4.37 acres of wetlands and enhancing a bit over a half-acre of additional wetlands, creating 32.11 acres of wetland buffer and introducing 33.85 acres of Oak Savanna throughout the golf course.

Braemar Golf Course is everything a visitor could possibly want in a golf course and multi-purpose upscale clubhouse.
